Maintenance Engineer

Responsible for:

 

All repairs related to the maintenance of operational equipment and site fabrication   

 

Responsibilities:

 

The maintenance of all plant and equipment on site to ensure that the optimum efficiencies are maintained to operate according to the scheduled maintenance programme.

 

Duties:

 

  • Conduct a range of engineering activities including (but not limited to) fault diagnostics, breakdown cover, equipment instillation and the general maintenance of all plant and equipment to ensure optimum efficiency

  • Support the department with the commissioning of new machinery

  • Dismantling and re-assembling machinery

  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation following repair

  • Maintenance of building fabrication

  • Conduct scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

  • Work with contractors to ensure specialist machinery is maintained

  • Checking the overall equipment effectiveness of production lines (OEE)

  • Ensure the clean as you go policy is maintained

  • To act as the primary engineer for specified lines

  • Assist with scheduled fire alarm testing if required

  • To hold a current, full UK driving licence, and supply copies of this and vehicle insurance documents to management (company car drivers policy)

  • Ensure all assigned tools are kept clean and in good repair

  • Report any Health and Safety hazards within the area

  • Fully co-operate with site management and the workforce

  • To have a flexible approach to work in order to meet changing business requirements

  • Compliance to all company policies, practices and standard operating procedures

 

Expected learnings to be attained:

 

  • Knowledge, understanding and compliance to the company Hygiene and Health and Safety requirements

  • Working knowledge and use of CMMS system (computerised maintenance management system)

  • Knowledge and understanding of (OEE) overall equipment effectiveness

  • CIEH Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing

 

Personal Skills Required:

 

  • Have an engineering related qualification or relevant experience in an engineering role within food manufacturing

  • Strong technical knowledge and an aptitude for both mechanical and electrical engineering

  • Competent in working with PLC systems and fault finding on electrical circuits

  • Sound fault finding ability and a working knowledge of pneumatics and electronics

  • Ability to use initiative

  • Flexibility

  • Good written and oral communication skills
